Startup [edit]

Game frequently will not launch from Steam Launcher for a large number of players. No known work-around other than to continue clicking Play repeatedly until game starts.^[11]

Impossible to disable controller aim assistance [edit]

Game supports three different levels of aim assistance when playing with a controller: High, Low and Off. High and Low work as intended (high snaps towards the nearest target, low slows down crosshairs when near an enemy), but Off behaves exactly the same as Low. This also happens on consoles.^[12]

Run the game at screen refresh rate in fullscreen [edit]

The Game ignores Windows settings and forces 60 Hz while in fullscreen as long as it's supported by your monitor.^[13]

Download 3Dmigoto Copy the files in the `x64` folder to the installation folder. Open `d3dx.ini`. Change `;refresh_rate=60` to the desired value, and remove the semicolon (e.g. `refresh_rate=144`). Change `hunting=1` to `;hunting=1` by adding a semicolon. Save the changes and close the file. Notes It can be setup to use ReShade as a proxy.

It often crashes on startup, alt-tab and alt-enter.^[15] It's convoluted to setup if also using ReShade.

Remove support for 60Hz on your monitor
Download CRU and delete all other resolutions except the one with the refresh rate you want to play at.

Force borderless windowed
Force the game to run in a borderless window. See glossary.

Disable fullscreen optimizations
Navigate to the root directory of the game and locate `Mafia3DefinitiveEdition.exe`. Right click the exe file and choose `Properties`. Select the `Compatibility` tab, and check `Disable fullscreen optimizations`. Hit `apply` and the game will now run at your monitor's native refresh rate.

Play only main missions!/No side missions at all - Some may find the side missions repetitive. The mod will allow to play only the main/story missions in the game.

No grinding - Reduces the amount of damage needed to advance to the next mission.

No Enemy Blips Download - Removes the enemy blips from the minimap.

Difficulty Tweaks Download - Player takes 2x damage on hard difficulty. All services cost money now. Rebalanced store robbery rewards. Rebalanced weapon upgrades. Recommended using with no enemy blips mod.
